The Hunts Bay Police seized a 9mm pistol and seven 9mm rounds of ammunition during a confrontation on Betty Lane in Hunts Bay, St. Andrew on Saturday, May 1.
One man is in custody, whose identity is being withheld, pending further investigation.
Reports are that at about 4:30 p.m., residents informed them about armed men in the area. A police team went to investigate, and the gunmen opened gunfire at them. They returned the gunfire, which forced the gunmen to retreat.
The police found one man with gunshot wounds and took a 9mm pistol from him. They took him to the hospital, where he is being treated under police guard.
Investigations are still ongoing.
