Twenty-five members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force received the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service, while three District Constables received awards for Long and Faithful Service at the National Honours and Award Ceremony held at King’s House on National Heroes’ Day, Monday, October 16.
Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson addressed the honourees. “Everybody is very deserving of this, so congratulations,” he said.
Among the honorees is Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the JCF Corporate Communications Unit. She expressed her gratitude for receiving the award. “It’s a sense of gratitude. I am very elated having served for 33 years. I think this is really a reward for my years of excellent and quality service to the Constabulary Force and by extension the Jamaican people so I am very happy,” she said.
Another one of the awardees was Deputy Superintendent of Police Andrew Edwards, who has been serving the Force for 37 years. For him, it was a great moment to share with his well-wishers. “I am highly elated to be among the awardees; all the officials, family and friends were here, it is really a memorable moment and I don’t take it for granted. It is something that I will cherish for the rest of my journey in the JCF,” he said.
District Constable Denovan Evans with thirty-seven years of service from the St. Catherine North Division was among the three District Constables who received awards for their sterling contribution to the Force. He expressed his gratitude for the award, saying. “I am very happy today to receive this award and I appreciate it”, he said.
Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony addressed the honourees. “Everybody is very deserving of this, so congratulations,” he said.
The recognition bestowed upon these exemplary officers serve as a powerful reminder of the hard work of the JCF. The Jamaica Constabulary Force is extending heartiest congratulations to the honourees for their unwavering commitment in serving the people of Jamaica.
