March 04, 2021 – Detectives attached to the Morant Bay Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have arrested and charged a man for the September 2017 double murder of a man and a woman at a gas station on Red Hills Road, Morant Bay in St. Thomas.
Charged with Murder is 34-year-old Chaka Miller, otherwise called ‘TK’, a tattoo artist of Abbott Road, Hermitage in Kingston 7.
Miller is charged with the murder of 53-year-old Christopher Higgins, otherwise called ‘Chris’, of North Street in the parish and 26-year-old Catherina Brown, otherwise called ‘Trina’, cashier of Lyssons Road also in St. Thomas.
Reports are that about 11:11 p.m., Higgins and three men, travelling in a grey Suzuki motor car drove into the gas station and opened fire at Higgins and Brown who later died at hospital.
The Suzuki motor car with the men aboard was later intercepted and seized by the Police on Mountain View Avenue, however, the culprits escaped after firing several shots at the lawmen. Further investigations revealed that Miller subsequently left the island after the incident.
On Friday, February 05, Miller was nabbed after he was deported from the Bahamas. He was taken into custody and charged on Wednesday, February 03.
His court date is being finalised.
