Twenty-four-year-oldTafari Willis otherwise called ‘Jack’, a landscaper of Long Gate Road, Irish Town in St. Andrew will face charges of Assault with Intent to Rob, Assault at Common Law, Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition following an incident along Irish Town main road in the parish on Friday, June 04.
Reports from the Gordon Town Police are that about 2:45 p.m., both complainants were traveling in a Mazda Titan motor truck; upon reaching a section of the roadway, Willis and another man walked from behind a black motor vehicle and stood in the middle of the road. One of the culprits pulled a firearm and pointed at the complainant and demanded them to exit their vehicle and hand over their properties. The complainant, who is a license firearm holder, fired one round in the direction of the men then sped off and reported the incident.
The crime scene was processed and one of the alleged robbers – later identified as 30-year-old Steven Brown of Berry Hill district in the parish – was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Willis escaped but was arrested later that day by Irish Town Police and officially charged on Saturday, June 12.
Willis’ court date is being finalised.
