The St. James Police have charged three persons with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition following an operation along Porto Bello Main Road in St. James on Thursday, July 4.
Charged are:
- 18-year-old Jason Phang otherwise called ‘J’, a farmer of New Road, Flankers, James and Hope River, Burnt Savanah, St. Elizabeth.
- 21-year-old Kenton Minott otherwise called ‘Ken’ or ‘Kenny’, a student of First Street, Albion, St. James.
- 29-year-old Kyeja Osbourne otherwise called ‘Javar’, a wedding administrator of Kearsley Avenue, Bridgeport, Portmore, St. Catherine and Green Pond main road, St. James.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that about 4:30 p.m., the police were conducting a stop and search operation when they saw a grey 2017 Subaru motor car being driven by Osbourne with Minott and Phang aboard. Osbourne was signaled to stop and a search requested of their person. Phang was instructed to exit the motor car and upon exiting, a firearm fell through his pants waistband onto the roadway. The firearm was retrieved and found to be a Browning Single Action (B.S.A) 9mm pistol loaded with a magazine containing eleven (11) 9mm cartridges. All three men were arrested and subsequently charged. A court date is being arranged.
