74-year-old Pioneer Leads the Way to JCF Transformations Expo 2.0

The air crackled with anticipation,  the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Transformations Expo2.0, was about to begin, promising a glimpse into the future of law enforcement in Jamaica. As the gates opened, it wasn’t a young, tech-savvy individual who stepped forward, instead, it was 74-year-old Monica Allen; her face etched with the wisdom of years and her eyes shining with determination.

Ms. Allen’s presence at the forefront of the Expo was a testament to her unwavering belief in the JCF’s ongoing transformation. She had been a keen observer of the force’s evolution, witnessing firsthand the challenges and triumphs of policing in Jamaica over the decades. Her early arrival wasn’t a matter of chance; it was a deliberate act, a symbol of her support and her eagerness to witness the progress.

At 74 years old, Ms. Monica Allen could’ve easily stayed home, letting others make the trip. “I’ve seen a lot of changes in my lifetime,” Ms. Allen shared, her voice a gentle rasp, “and I believe in progress. The JCF has worked hard and is becoming better, I had to be here to see it.” Her journey to the expo was no small feat. Living in Portland saw her boarding a bus from very early to make it to the National Arena in Kingston. Having this determination Ms. Allen was easily the first person at the JCF’s Transformations Expo 2.0.

Meanwhile, Allen expressed that what drove her wasn’t just a casual interest, it was a deep-seated belief in progress, in seeing how far the Jamaica Constabulary Force had come, and in witnessing the future unfold through technology and innovation. While some might believe that ‘new tech’ is just for the youth, Ms. Allen stood as living proof that learning never grows old, and inspiration knows no age limit.

She entered the room, and her face lit up immediately as she saw the displays. Allen’s sojourn here today has reminded many that it’s about people like her, who still care, who still dream, and who show up. She did not just visit an expo; she made a statement; that passion and purpose doesn’t retire.
