ST. THOMAS MAN FACES GUN CHARGES

Lawmen attached to the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged 25-year-old Lashaun Wilson otherwise called ‘Bashy’ a labourer of Grants Pen, St. Thomas with Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony and Wounding with Intent.

These charges were laid following an incident which occurred at Fish House Road, Grants Pen in the parish on Wednesday June 12 about 4:15a.m.

Reports from the lawmen are that ‘Bashy’ and another man went to the home of the complainant pretending to be police officers. The man-made checks and saw two men on his veranda; he then tried to make good his escape through a back door when Bashy’ opened gunfire at him, hitting him in both legs and upper body.

An alarm was raised by citizens and the man was taken to hospital by lawmen where he was treated and released. An official report was made, and an investigation commenced. On Thursday, August 1, ‘Bashy’ handed over himself to the police. He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session.

A court date for him is being finalised.
