Mechanic Charged with Simple Larceny and Fraudulent Conversion

Detectives assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division have charged 36-year-old Leon Pryce otherwise called ‘Chang’, a mechanic of Culloden district, Whitehouse, Westmoreland with simple larceny and fraudulent conversion following an incident that occurred in his community on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Reports are that at about 11:00 a.m., a man went to an establishment that was being operated by Pryce, where an agreement of JMD 25,000.00 was paid to Pryce for the replacement of a damaged engine in the man’s Toyota Corolla motor car. Sometime after, the man returned to the location to check on the vehicle.

However, he realized that the engine was not replaced and several tools and other accessories that were in the vehicle were also missing. The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was launched.

Following the investigation, Pryce was arrested. On Wednesday, September 11, he was charged after a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney.
