Farmers Charged Under the Firearms Act

Lawmen attached to the St. Elizabeth Policing Division have arrested and charged three men for the offences of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition following an incident Pedro Cross main road in the parish on Friday, October 04.

They are:

  1. 39-year-old Lashawn Brown labourer of Hodgesland, Giddy Hall, St. Elizabeth,
  2. 39-year-old Ricardo Murray a farmer/construction worker of also of  Hodgesland, St. Elizabeth and
  3. 31-year-old Andre Christie a farmer of Arlington Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

Reports from the lawmen are that at about 9:15p.m., the police were conducting a National Coordinated Roadblock Operation along the Pedro Cross main road, when a blue Hyundai motorcar with three men aboard was signalled to stop. The men disobeyed and was later intercepted by members of the police team.

The vehicle was searched in the presence of the men and one Glock 19 pistol and a magazine, loaded with sixteen 9mm rounds of ammunition was taken from beneath the passenger seat.

The men were apprehended and taken to the station where they were officially charged. A court date for them is being finalised.
