Businesswoman Charged with Fraudulent Conversion

Fifty-four-year-old Sophia Singh, a businesswoman of Broadway Road in Kingston 8 has been charged with two counts of Fraudulent Conversion following two incidents along Molynes Road, Kingston 10 on Tuesday, February 20.

 

Reports are that a man handed her a cheque valued JMD 1,450,000 as down payment for a motor vehicle. He was reassured that he would receive the vehicle within two weeks’ however, since the initial payment the man has not received the agreed upon vehicle or a refund. Another man deposited JMD $1,750,000 as down payment for a red Toyota wish motor vehicle and has not received the vehicle or a refund of his money.

Singh has been charged for the same offence multiple times. Preparations for her court date are underway.
