Four Men Charged in St. Catherine

FOUR MEN SLAPPED WITH MULTIPLE CHARGES FOLLOWING ROBBERY IN ST. CATHERINE

Detectives assigned to the St. Catherine South Police Division have charged four men in connection with an armed robbery in Parker Walk, Red Ground in the parish on Monday, November 04.

Those charged are:

  • Jemone Blackwood,21, construction worker of Woman Town, Hanover
  • Rajohn Tavares, 17, construction worker, of Woman Town, Hanover
  • Rennard Rose, 30, construction worker, of Woman Town, Hanover
  • Jeraine Golding, 34, of Banista district, Old Harbour in St. Catherine,

Reports from the Portmore Police are that on November 4, the four men held up a businessman at gunpoint on his farm, robbing him of a Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at JMD$50,000, a 2019 Toyota Hiace van valued at about JMD$4,700,000 and his wallet containing bank cards.

The assailants then forced the victim to transfer JMD$52,000 to a Jamaica National Bank account before fleeing the scene in the complainant’s vehicle.

On November 5, about 2:00 p.m. lawmen intercepted a Toyota Axio motorcar and apprehended the four suspects. A search of the vehicle yielded the victim’s personal belongings, along with other cell phones, identification cards and construction tools. The men were arrested and taken into custody.

The victim positively identified the four men as the perpetrators of the armed robbery and they were subsequently charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Robbery with Aggravation and Using a Firearm to Commit a Schedule Offence.

Their court date is being finalized.
