‘EBBEH’ FACING SEVERAL CHARGES FOLLOWING ABDUCTION
Detectives assigned to the St Thomas Policing Division have charged a man with Assault at Common Law, Grievous Sexual Assault, Robbery with Aggravation, Unauthorized Access to Computer Device, Forcible Abduction, and Simple Larceny following the abduction of a woman in the Woodburn district, Yallahs, in the parish on Saturday, January 25.
Charged is 49-year-old Anthony Graham, otherwise called ‘Ebbeh’, a construction worker of the Springfield district, Morant Bay, St. Thomas.
Reports from the Morant Bay Police are that at about 7:31 p.m., Graham hauled a woman who was walking along the roadway into the bushes, after which he forced her into the back of a motor car driven by his accomplice. The driver drove the motor car to an isolated section in the area, where they robbed her of two cell phones, one Samsung A24 and one iPhone 12 Pro Max, along with her Scotia debit bank card. Graham and his accomplice demanded the passwords for the cell phones and the PIN for her debit card, then forcefully sexually assaulted her and left her in bushes. The men later drove to an Automated Teller Machine in Kingston and withdrew $24,000.00 JMD. The properties stolen are valued at $92,000 JMD.
A report was subsequently made to the police regarding the incident, and an investigation was launched. On Wednesday, March 26, the lawmen made a breakthrough in the case, and Graham was arrested and later charged for the offences following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His accomplice is being urged to turn himself in to the police. Graham is to attend the Morant Bay Parish Court on Wednesday, April 9.
