ST. MARY MAN CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT
Assault at Common Law, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony charges have been laid against a St Mary man in relation to an incident in a Frontier district, Port Maria, in the parish on Thursday, March 27.
Charged is 46-year-old construction worker Alphanso Smith, otherwise called ‘Sonny T’ of Warner’s Street, also in Port Maria.
Reports from the Port Maria Police are that at about 8:30 p.m., a woman was walking in the community when Smith threatened to hit her. He then brandished a firearm and threatened to kill her. The woman walked away to escape harm and later reported the incident to the police.
Smith was taken into custody during an operation and was charged after he was pointed out on an identification parade.
His court date is being finalised.
