WESTMORELAND MAN CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLEMENT

Fifty-year-old Anthony Brown, otherwise called ‘Collins’, a sales representative of Whithorn District, Westmoreland, was charged with embezzlement in relation to multiple incidents in western parishes.

According to reports from the Savanna-lar-mar Police, Brown was a sales representative at an establishment in the area. His task was collecting payments from customers and depositing them to the company account. He allegedly used the company’s money for his own personal gain and benefit.

The complainant, acting on information from concerned customers, conducted an investigation and discovered that he had embezzled $5,792,606.72 JMD over some time.

A report was made after he failed to hand over the money, and a targeted raid was carried out at a location on Beckford Street, Savanna-la-mar, where Brown was seen, arrested and subsequently charged for the mentioned offence.

His court date is being finalised.
