The St. Andrew South Police have charged four men with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition following a targeted operation in Waterhouse in the parish on Monday, April 28.

Charged are:

  1. Mark Wright, 46, carpenter and construction worker of Rushworth Avenue, Kingston 11
  2. Ramone Foster, otherwise called ‘Prince’, 27 of Dill Path Crescent, Kingston 11
  3. Oshane Gayle, 32, of Conway Road, Kingston 11
  4. Giovanni Bonitto, 25, of Barbados Road, Kingston 11

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 9:30 a.m., lawmen conducted an operation on Dill Path Crescent and Barbados Road when they signalled a motorcar to stop. The driver complied and a search of the vehicle was conducted in the presence of the occupants. During the search, one brown shopping bag containing a submachine gun with a magazine containing nineteen 9mm rounds of ammunition was found under the driver’s seat.

The men were arrested and taken into custody where they were subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys.

Investigation also revealed that the men are believed to be members of the dismantled ‘Capture Gang’, which operated out of the Waterhouse community.

They are scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on Friday, May 02.
