TWO NSWMA EMPLOYEES CHARGED FOR FUEL THEFT

Investigators assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) arrested and charged two employees from the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) on Monday, May 5, in connection with several incidents of fuel theft from the company between February 2024 and April 2025.

The accused are 35-year-old Kemar Cousins of Regent Street, Kingston, 14, and 57-year-old Karim Isaacs of Jones Town, Kingston, 12.

Both employees operated garbage trucks for the NSWMA and made unauthorised stops at various locations during their official duties. Reports are that they illegally syphoned fuel from the NSWMA trucks during these stops, resulting in significant losses.

The matter was brought to the attention of C-TOC, and an investigation was launched. The men were subsequently arrested and charged with Larceny as a Servant and Simple Larceny. They are to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court on July 16.

Addressing the seriousness of the offences, Superintendent of Police Victor Barrett of C-TOC stated, “The theft of fuel from public resources like the NSWMA is a serious matter that directly impacts essential services. C-TOC is committed to ensuring accountability and will continue its thorough investigation into all aspects of this case.”

Meanwhile, the public is urged to report such incidents and share any information on suspicious activities by calling C-TOC at 876-967-1389, Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, or the nearest police station.
