THE JCF MENSA LECTURE: A DEEP DIVE INTO TRANSFORMATION

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is set to make a significant stride in public engagement and image building with the highly anticipated Mensa Lecture and the launch of its Transformations Expo 2.0. This dual event promises to showcase the JCF’s commitment to modernisation, intelligence, community engagement, and transparency.

Transformations Expo 2.0: Showcasing Progress and Innovation

The lecture will provide a unique opportunity for the public to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs of the JCF’s transformation journey, fostering greater trust and collaboration between the police and communities they serve.

The Mensa Lecture, a platform known for intellectual discourse and insightful presentations, will feature the Commissioner of Police, Dr Kevin Blake, as the main presenter. Dr Blake’s address will focus on the transformative aspects of the JCF, offering a comprehensive overview of the force’s ongoing efforts to modernise and improve its operational effectiveness. The lecture is expected to delve into the strategic initiatives, technological advancements, and cultural shifts that are reshaping the JCF into a more efficient, accountable, and community-orientated organisation. Commissioner Blake, backed by a powerful High Command, pledges all these innovations and transformations to creating safer communities and, by extension, a safer Jamaica.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and the highest-ranking female in the Constabulary, Mrs Karina Powell-Hood, set to speak at the Mensa Lecture, will spearhead the presentation on the launch of the Transformations Expo 2.0. This event, following the inaugural staging in 2023, will see law enforcers from all over Jamaica coming together for four days, June 19-22, at the National Arena in Kingston and the Montego Bay Community College in St James. DCP Hood stated that the expo will serve as a dynamic platform to showcase the JCF’s progress in various areas, including crime-fighting strategies, community outreach programmes, and technological innovations.

The JCF Mensa is supported by the Amber Group, a global powerhouse with over 13 companies around the world. They are known for their cutting-edge vehicular tracking technology, Amber Cyber Eye, among many other technological products. A company, which is celebrating nine years in the field, was the first organisation to use their vehicle tracking devices within the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Dushyant Savadia, Chief Executive Officer at The Amber Group, addressed the members of the Police High Command, JCF rank-and-file members and attendees, sharing his appreciation for the JCF being their first customer.

During his address, he debuted their latest technology, an AI-powered police officer, “Constable Smart, to be on display at the upcoming JCF Transformations Expo 2.0. He expressed that the AI-powered tool, is carefully built to answer questions relating to the laws and policies within the JCF.

Building Public Image and Fostering Trust

The Expo will feature interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and presentations, providing attendees with a firsthand look at the JCF’s advancements. It will also offer a valuable opportunity for the public to engage directly with a police officer, ask questions, and learn more about the force’s operations.

Both the Mensa Lecture and the Transformations Expo 2.0 are strategically designed to enhance the public image of the JCF and build stronger relationships with the community. By openly sharing information about its transformation efforts and engaging in transparent dialogue, the JCF aims to foster greater trust and confidence among the public. These events will provide a platform to highlight the positive changes within the force, address public concerns, and demonstrate the JCF’s commitment to serving and protecting the Jamaican people.

The combination of intellectual discourse at the Mensa Lecture and the interactive showcase at the Expo is expected to captivate the public and generate public interest to support greater cooperation between the police and citizens.
