WESTMORELAND MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON

The Westmoreland Police have charged 34-year-old Sadekie Brown of Grange district, Glenislay, in the parish with Arson following an incident in his community on Friday, August 15.

Reports from the Whithorn Police are that at about 7:30 a.m., residents observed smoke coming from an apartment structure which houses several businesses. They made checks and saw Brown fleeing the premises. Shortly after, the building was engulfed in flames.

The police and the fire department were alerted, and cooling-down operations commenced. Damages to the building were estimated at over $4 million JMD. Reports were given to the police, and statements were recorded implicating Brown. Shortly after the incident, Brown was handed over to the police by residents.

Brown was charged on Monday, August 18, following a question and answer session in the presence of two Justices of the Peace.

A court date for him is being finalised.
