MANCHESTER MASON CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT
Detectives assigned to the Manchester Policing Division charged 31-year-old Rochane Smith, otherwise called ‘Stephen’, a mason of Silver Grove district, Manchester, with several offences following an incident on Huntley Main Road, Manchester, on Tuesday, July 08.
He is charged with: Wounding With Intent, Possession of Prohibited Weapon , Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, Using a Prohibited Weapon to Commit a Felony and Assault at Common Law.
Reports indicate that at about 2:00 a.m., a man was walking along the main road when Smith pointed a firearm at him and fired several shots, hitting the man in the head and upper body. Smith then escaped the area on a motorcycle. The police were summoned, and the injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment. An investigation was subsequently launched.
Reid was sought, found by the lawmen and later arrested. He was positively identified on an identification parade, and the charges were laid.
His court date is being finalised.
