HANOVER MASON CHARGED FOR BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT

Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Assault at Common Law charges have been laid against 41-year-old Lance Reid, otherwise known as ‘Don’, a mason of Mount Pellier district, Sandy Bay, in the parish, in relation to an incident in his community on Friday, May 16.

Reports from the Lucea Police are that at about 2:30 p.m., a man was driving along the roadway when he slowed down to allow a pedestrian to cross. Whilst waiting, Reid, who was standing along the roadway, called out to the man, after which he threatened him. Reid then brandished a firearm and pointed it downwards, which caused the man to become fearful. He drove away to escape harm and then reported the incident to the police.

An investigation was thereafter launched into the matter.

The accused man turned himself in to the police on Wednesday, August 20, and was charged after a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
