BUSINESSMAN CHARGED WITH FRAUDULENT CONVERSION

Detectives assigned to the St Catherine South Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) charged 47-year-old Garfield Johnson, a businessman of Cherry Gardens, Kitson Town, in the parish, with Fraudulent Conversion following an incident between February and August 2025.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that during the period mentioned above, a customer paid Johnson 3,480,000 JMD to purchase three vehicles on her behalf. She became suspicious after several months passed and she did not receive the vehicles. Checks were made, and it was borne out that the vehicles were not purchased as agreed.

A report was subsequently made to the police, resulting in Johnson’s arrest. He was charged on Monday, August 25.

Johnson is set to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Thursday, October 16.
