THREE MEN CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT

Three men have been arrested and charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition following a seizure on Municipal Boulevard, Portmore, St. Catherine, on Monday, January 12.

Charged are:

  • Twenty-two-year-old Jordane Thompson, of Coley District, St. Ann
  • Thirty-two-year-old Joseph Currie, otherwise called ‘Juggy’, of Seville Heights and Roy Street, St. Ann.
  • Twenty-five-year-old Andre Henry, of Loraine Avenue, Molynes Road, Kingston 10

Reports from the Greater Portmore Police are that at about 1:45 a.m., a police team was patrolling the area when they received information about a group of men travelling aboard a grey Toyota Fielder, said to be armed. The vehicle was later intercepted, and a search was carried out. During the search, a black Smith & Wesson .45 pistol with a magazine affixed containing five .45 cartridges was found in the armrest of the vehicle. Following the seizure, all three men were taken into custody and were jointly charged on Tuesday, January 13.

Their court date is being finalised.
