April 29, 2015- After 40 years of unwavering service to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Superintendent Winston Milton, Commanding Officer of the Trelawny Police Division, is stepping into retirement.

Yesterday, the members of the Trelawny Police Division came together for a surprise celebration in honour of SP Milton, as he prepares to embark on his well-deserved retirement after four decades of committed service.

Milton was lauded by members of the division’s management team, colleagues from across Area 1, community stakeholders, and well-wishers alike. All gathered to pay tribute to his extraordinary journey with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The atmosphere was a blend of joy and reflection; joy for a retirement earned, and regret at the departure of a leader whose presence has been both commanding and inspiring.

Throughout the gathering, individuals fearlessly shared personal stories and heartfelt tributes, painting a vivid picture of a man whose influence has been deeply felt. Emotions ran high as colleague’s recounted moments of kindness, mentorship, and unwavering support. Many were moved to tears as they reflected on how SP Milton has shaped their lives and careers.

Described as a true leader, Milton is known for demanding excellence, not only in outcomes, but in the efforts behind them. A perfectionist by nature, he continuously challenged his team to maintain the highest standards, encouraging them to exceed expectations and push beyond perceived limits.

His leadership bore tangible results. In November 2024, the Trelawny Division was named the Most Improved Division at the Transforming Our People and Service (TOPS) Awards, hosted by the Police Civilian Oversight Authority. This recognition stands as clear evidence of his dedication to elevating the quality of service delivered to both internal and external stakeholders.

In a symbolic moment marking the transition of leadership, outgoing Commanding Officer SP Milton formally handed over a baton to his successor, Deputy Superintendent Ainsley McCarthy, visually representing the passing of responsibilities and the continuity of service.

Superintendent Milton leaves behind a legacy of integrity, discipline, and excellence. Though he will be missed in the day-to-day operations of the division, his impact will continue to resonate for years to come.
