CAR WASH OPERATOR CHARGED WITH MURDER
Sleuths assigned to the St. Andrew South Criminal Investigations Branch have charged 35-year-old car wash operator Akeem Granell of Olympic Way, Kingston 11, with Murder following a stabbing incident at a business establishment in his community on Sunday, November 23.
Dead is 39-year-old Rickey Powell, otherwise called ‘Papa’ or ‘Tallman,’ of Cassia Crescent, Kingston 11.
Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 1:45p.m., Granell and Powell were at the above-mentioned location when Granell demanded funds from Powell. When his demands were not met, he attacked Powell with a pair of scissors, inflicting stab wounds to his chest. Powell was assisted to the hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained.
Granell was later arrested in a police operation and subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
