Accused Thief To Face Court in St. Elizabeth

Twenty-five-year-old-year-old Daniel Levy of Lamb Town district, Knockpatrick in Manchester has been charged with Shop Breaking and Larceny following a break-in at a shop in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth on Sunday, May 23, 2021.


Reports from the Santa Cruz Police are that about 6:00 a.m., Levy allegedly smashed a glass window to the shop and removed several items before escaping on foot.


Investigations led to Levy’s arrest; he was charged after he allegedly confessed to the crime during an interview.


His court date is being finalised.

Nine Arrested for Illegal Guns

Nine persons were arrested in connection with the seizure of illegal guns in operations across the island between Thursday, June 24 and Friday, June 25.
 
Four of the nine persons were taken into custody in relation to the seizure of one Taurus .38 revolver and five .38 rounds of ammunition on the Bustamante Highway, Longville Park, Clarendon on Friday, June 25.
 
Reports from the May Pen Police are that about 10:50 a.m., lawmen were in the area when they signaled the driver of a Toyota Corolla motor car to stop. The driver complied. The police officers searched the vehicle and the illegal firearm was found behind the front passenger seat.
 
The occupants of the motor vehicle, two men and two women, were subsequently arrested.
 
Another four persons were arrested in connection with the seizure of a .38 revolver in Old Harbour Glades, St. Catherine on Thursday, June 24.
 
Reports are that about 7:30 a.m., a team of officers observed four men standing beside a Toyota Probox motor car. The men were accosted, the motor vehicle was searched and one .38 revolver along with two .38 rounds of ammunition were found inside the vehicle. The men were arrested.
 
The ninth person was arrested in connection with the seizure of one homemade firearm during an operation in Gregory Park, St. Catherine on Friday, June 25.
 
Reports from the Caymanas Police are that about 7:45 a.m., the lawmen were on an operation in the area when the man’s actions aroused the suspicion of the police. The police then conducted a search of his person and found the firearm. He was subsequently arrested.
 
The identities of all nine persons are being withheld as the investigations continue.
