CCTV Footage Implicates ‘Alkaline’ in Montego Bay Murder

Murder, Robbery with Aggravation,Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony and Possession of Prohibited Weapon charges have been laid against 29-year-old Christopher Hunt, otherwise known as ‘Alkaline’ of Katon lane, Mount Salem, St. James. The charges stem from the shooting death of a security officer along Barnett Street in the parish on Monday, June 16.

Dead is 37-year-old Garry Hamilton of Albion road, Montego Bay, also in the parish.

Reports from the police are that at about 5:54 p.m., Hamilton was standing outside a business establishment when Hunt approached him and tried to force him inside. When his attempt failed, Hunt opened gunfire at Hamilton before robbing the establishment and fleeing the area. The police were alerted, and on their arrival, Hamilton was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation which included the review of CCTV footage, Hunt was apprehended in St Catherine a day after he committed the act. He was formally charged on Wednesday, June 25, after he confessed to committing the crimes, and a question-and-answer session was conducted.

A court date is being arranged for him.
