Twenty-year-old Tajay Beckford of Mount Ogle in Lawrence Tavern, St. Andrew was charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Robbery with Aggravation following an incident along Windward Road, Kingston 2 on Monday, December 25.
Reports from the Elletson Road police are that about 10:50 p.m., Beckford who was a passenger on a bus signalled the driver to stop. When the driver complied Beckford brandished a firearm, pointed it at him and another passenger and demanded their belongings. He robbed the passenger of her IPhone XR valued JMD $ 50,000 JMD and her earbuds valued at JMD $42,000.
Beckford then made an attempt to rob the driver but was pushed him from the vehicle enabling them to escape their attacker.
A report was made to the police and following an operation Beckford was taken into custody and charged after being pointed out on an identification parade.
His court date is being arranged.
