CLARENDON BROTHERS CHARGED WITH MURDER

The Clarendon Police have charged two brothers, 33-year-old Anesworth Baker, otherwise called ‘Dontae’, a farmer, and 31-year-old Leroy Baker, otherwise called ‘Bolo’, a welder, both of Sandy Bay, Clarendon, with several offences following the murder of 77-year-old Noel Myles, also a farmer in their community, on Monday, March 17.

They were charged with Murder, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition, Using a Prohibited Weapon to Commit a Felony, Larceny of Cattle and Cruelty to Animal.

Reports from the May Pen Police are that Myles, who has several cows, allows them to graze on a property near the house of the brothers. At about 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, Myles went over to the yard of the brothers to cut grass for his cows when he saw the brothers slaughtering a bull that they allegedly stole from another man. The brothers asked Byles to store the meat in his refrigerator, but he refused.

Myles expressed to a witness that he was in fear for his life and that if anything happened to him, the brothers were responsible. Sometime in the afternoon, the brothers saw Myles speaking to the owner of the slaughtered animal, who then asked the brothers if they had seen his missing bull. At about 7:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, Myles took his cattle to the property beside a yard of the brothers to graze when explosions were heard and the police were summoned. Upon their arrival, of the police, Myles was seen lying face down in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to the right wounds.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation was launched, and both men were arrested.

On Friday, March 28, a question-and-answer session was conducted with the brothers in the presence of their attorney, after which they were charged with the offences.

They are scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish court on Thursday, April 3.
