CLARENDON MAN SLAPPED WITH MULTIPLE CHARGES

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, Shooting with Intent ( 3 counts) and Conspiracy to Shooting with Intent charges have been laid against 18-year-old labourer Brandon Morris of Evans Street, Denbigh, Clarendon, in relation to an incident on Main Street, Mandeville, Manchester, on Tuesday, July 15.

Reports from the Mandeville Police are that at about 4:00 p.m., a woman left her motor vehicle at a car wash to be cleaned. She was contacted a few hours later and informed that a worker had driven her vehicle away.

At about 6:30 p.m., a team of lawmen saw the vehicle on Main Street and approached it. The driver sped off after an officer and identified himself to them. The police team pursued the vehicle and came under gunfire after a man alighted from it. They returned gunfire, and the gunman escaped on foot in the area. After the shooting subsided, the driver sped away from the scene and crashed into a utility pole.

He was later taken into custody and was charged on Friday, July 18, after a caution statement and a question-and-answer session in the presence of two Justices of the Peace.

His court date is being finalised.
