Construction Worker Charged with Multiple Offences

Detectives assigned to the St. Mary Police Division have charged 29-year-old Nigel Bennett a construction worker of Bottom Settlement, Sandside, St. Mary in relation to an incident in the community on Saturday, September 14.

Bennett was charged with possession of prohibited weapon, assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Reports from the Port Maria Police are that about 8:00 p.m., Bennett was in a bar when he got into a verbal confrontation with a woman. Barrett left the establishment but later returned with a firearm, that he pulled and pointed at the woman’s children. The matter was reported to the police and Bennett was arrested.

He was charged on Tuesday, September 17 after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

His court date has not been finalised.
