‘DOG BITE’ FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING WOUNDING

Twenty-one-year-old Damoi Byfield, otherwise called ‘Dog Bite,’ of Alexander Street, in Kingston has been charged with  Wounding with Intent, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon , Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony following an incident at Water Lane, in the parish on Saturday, January 25.

Reports from the Elleston Road Police are that on the aforementioned date Byfield and another man allegedly set a house a blaze and was making their escape when they pounced upon the complainant. The man realizing that one of the assailant was armed with a firearm in fear of his life, ran. The assalaints gave chase and opened gunfire hitting the man several times before fleeing the scene. The police were alerted and the man was transported to the hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

Byfield was later apprehended by the Half-Way-Tree Police for a firearm related offence. He was traferred to the Elletson Road Police where he was interviewed and formally charged based on a confession statement.

His court date is being finalised.
