Detective assigned to the Trelawny Police Division have arrested and charged two men with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition and Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice following an incident at a farm in Mahogony Hall, Jackson Town in the parish on Monday, February 26.
Charged are:
- 41-year-old Samuel Scott, farmer of Mahogony Hall, Jackson Town, Trelawny.
- 59-year-old Alfred Richards otherwise called’ Derrick’, farmer of Mahagony Hall, Sawyers, Trelawny.
Reports from the Falmouth Police are that about 9:45 a.m., residents heard explosions and summoned the police. A search of the area was carried out by the police and a Toyota Mark X motorcar was seen parked.
A search was conducted of the vehicle and one 9mm spent casing was found inside. Richards and Scott were seen running from the farm and were accosted. A follow-up operation was conducted on the farm; one string bag containing one Glock pistol with a magazine containing five (5) 9mm rounds, and an extended magazine containing ten (10) 9mm rounds were found.
Both accused men were charged following question-and-answer sessions. Their court date is being finalised.
