
FOUR STOLEN GOATS RECOVERED DURING APB OPERATION IN ST. THOMAS
Lawmen assigned to the Agricultural Protection Branch (APB) Area 5, along with members of the St. Thomas Police Division, recovered four stolen goats valued at approximately JMD $390,000 during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Glasgow, Whitehall, in the parish, on Friday, November 21.
Reports are that the Area 5 APB team was conducting enquiries within the Seaforth and Bath Police area regarding a report of four stolen goats. During the operation, officers identified a premises where the animals were suspected to be hidden.
Further investigations led to the successful recovery of four goats, which were positively identified by the owner. No arrest was made in relation to the recovery.
The Agricultural Protection Branch is encouraging farmers to implement extra measures to safeguard lives and crops, particularly during the yuletide season, when there is usually an increase in praedial larceny.
The APB continues to demonstrate its specialised enforcement capabilities in combating praedial larceny island wide through targeted patrols, intelligence-led operations, and strengthened partnerships with divisional police teams. The Branch remains committed to protecting Jamaica’s farmer and safeguarding the nation’s food security.
