HAITIAN NATIONAL CHARGED WITH MURDER

Detectives assigned to the Portland Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have charged 41-year-old Claudy Phany, otherwise called ‘Nak Nak,’ a fisherman of Dam Marie, Haiti, with Murder following an incident at Windsor Forest in the parish on Sunday, February 16.

Dead is 53-year-old Osly Delphonse, a labourer of Grande-Anse-Irios, Haiti.

Reports from the lawmen are that at about 11:30 p.m., Delphonse and a group of undocumented Haitian nationals were at a location when an argument developed between them that became physical. During the altercation, Phany allegedly punched Delphonse, causing him to fall on the ground, where he sustained head injuries. He was later taken to the hospital, where he died whilst undergoing treatment.

A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched.

On Monday, February 24, Phany was arrested and later charged after an interview in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.

The lawmen continue to investigate the whereabouts of the other Haitians.
