The Hanover Police have charged 23-year-old Tyrese Johnson otherwise called ‘I Cool’, a plumber of Orange Bay Road, Logwood district, Hanover with assault at common law and possession of prohibited weapon in relation to an incident that occurred in his community on Saturday, September 7.
Reports are that about 7:30 p.m., a man was at a shop when he was approached by Johnson who had a knife, he then grabbed hold of the man by his shirt while verbally abusing and accusing him in relation to a dead goat. However, this was quickly squashed by residents and the Johnson left after issuing threats at the man. Sometime after, the man left on his motorcycle and was heading towards Green Island.
Upon reaching an area of the Orange Bay Road community, Johnson approached the man again, while pointing a firearm at him. In a bid to escape injuries, the man attempted to flee on his motorcycle but lost control and fell from it. Johnson then chased the man with a firearm in his hand. At this point, residents intervened and assisted the man— Johnson then left the area.
A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched. During the investigation, Johnson was arrested. He was charged on Tuesday, September 10 after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
His court date has not been finalised.
