Today we come together to reflect on our achievements and challenges and ground ourselves in faith as we seek guidance for the road ahead.” said the Commissioner of Police, Dr. Kevin Blake, at the Annual Force Devotion on the Lawns of his office on Thursday, January 2.
Present at the devotion exercise were Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Karina Powell-Hood, DCP Richard Stewart, DCP Warren Clarke, DCP Andrew Lewis, DCP Clifford Blake, other members of the JCF high command, rank and file, and special invited guests.
Dr. Blake, in his message, reflected on the theme of this year’s devotional exercise, ‘Transforming the Present, Securing the Future.’ He stated the theme serves as a reminder that our mission is both professional and spiritual, as transformation at its core prerequisite a certain degree of faith. It requires us to believe that even in the most challenging circumstances, with God’s help, we can build a better present and secure a brighter future.
He further recalled that in 2024, the JCF saw how resilience and unity, underpinned by faith, enabled the force to rise above obstacles. As the force was faced with trials but stood firm, guided by our shared commitment to serve, protect, and reassure.
Dr. Blake left three charges with the men and women of the constabulary:
Let us continue to transform the present by building on the gains of the past year. Let this be manifested through better operations, stronger community relationships, and personal and professional growth. Let us strive for constant improvement.
For us to secure the future by committing to excellence in service. Let every report, every case, and every interaction reflect the high standards of professionalism and care. Let us always remember that our actions today plant the seeds of tomorrow’s feast.
Is for us to walk in faith and unity, upholding our promises to the Jamaican people. Let us partner with them and demonstrate that JCF is a force for good, an organization of hope, strength, and transformation.
Looking forward to 2025, he states, “Let us aim to meet and even exceed the expectations guided by the principles of faith, courage, and love; together with God as our guide, we can confront and overcome the forces that seek to harm our communities, transforming them into spaces of peace and prosperity.”
Meanwhile, the speaker, Rev. Dr. Courtney Faulkner, in his address, encouraged the members of the JCF to ‘Press’ as 2025 will bring challenges; however, despite it all, we should stand firm and move forward to serve and protect at our best.
As we close this prayer breakfast, let us remember transformation begins with us. Let us depart with a renewed sense of purpose, and a deeper commitment to our faith and a drive to serve. May we be empowered to transform the present, securing a brighter future for the people of our nation. No one man can, but together, we can build a place of love, peace, and safety.
