KINGSTON MAN CHARGED FOR BREACHES OF THE FIREARM ACT

Twenty-one-year-old Orlando Williams, otherwise called ‘Little Nazz’, a shop operator of Golden Heights, Kingston 14, has been charged with Assault at Common Law Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, following an incident on Wednesday, August 20.

Reports from the Kingston Central Police are that at about 3:45 p.m., a team of police were on patrol in the vicinity of the Kingston Public Hospital when they observed a group of men walking along the street. Four of the men were dressed in full black hoodies and balaclavas, which aroused the police’s suspicion.

Upon closer inspection, the lawmen observed a bulge in Williams’ waistband. The lawmen exited their service vehicle and attempted to accost him. During the encounter, Williams allegedly attempted to draw a firearm from his waistband. The police took evasive action and discharged one round, hitting Williams in his leg.

Williams was immediately apprehended and transported to hospital, where he was treated under police guard.

His court date is being finalised.
