Thirty-year-old Rashawn Ricketts, a landscaper of Cavaliers district, St. Andrew is facing multiple charges following an incident on Hill Ave, Kingston 11, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

 Dead is 60-year-old Joan Herman, otherwise called ‘Millicent,’ a shopkeeper of Hill Ave, Kingston 11.

 Ricketts has been charged with Murder, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, using a Firearm to Commit a Felony and Using a Firearm to commit a Felony.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 4:40 p.m., Herman was inside her establishment when a motor car drove up and Ricketts exited the vehicle. Moments later, Ricketts entered the building and opened gunfire, hitting Herman multiple times. He then made his escape in the said motor vehicle. Herman was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, February 4, Ricketts was apprehended during a targeted operation on South Ave, Kingston 10. He was subsequently charged following an eyewitness statement and a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalized.
