
MAJOR OPERATION IN ST. MARY LED TO FIREARM SEIZURE AND SEVERAL ARRESTS
The St. Mary Police have intensified their efforts to rid the parish of illegal firearms following the seizure of a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol and thirteen 9mm rounds of ammunition during a major coordinated operation carried out in Crooked River, Annotto Bay, in the parish on Wednesday, October 22.
Reports are that about 6:15 a.m., during a series of simultaneous targeted raids and vehicle checkpoints (VCPs) conducted across the division. A team from the Area 2 Fugitive Apprehension Team (AFAT) acting on intelligence, conducted a targeted raid at a three-bedroom house in the Crooked River community that was occupied by three persons.
During the search of one of the bedrooms occupied by two of the residents, one Sig Sauer 9mm pistol and thirteen rounds of ammunition were found. All three occupants of the premises were taken into custody and charged jointly with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition.
Further investigations led to the apprehension of another man at a nearby premises he was arrested on reasonable suspicion of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, bringing the total number of persons held in connection with the firearm to four.
A total of eight persons were arrested and charged for various offenses, including Possession of Identity Information, dealing in, Trafficking Ganja, and Possession of Offensive Weapon during the operation.
They are:
1.Twenty-one-year-old Akeim Walters, a machine operator of Crooked River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary, who is charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition and Unlawful Possession of Property.
2. Forty-four-year-old Shane Daley, a bus operator of Crooked River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition.
3. Fifty-four-year-old Collen Simms of Crooked River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition.
4. Thirty-one-year-old Nikiann Edwards, a waiter of Crooked River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Dealing in and Trafficking Ganja.
5.Twenty-eight-year-old Ricardo Henry, a deliveryman of Annotto Bay, St. Mary who he is charged with Dealing in and Trafficking Ganja.
6. Twenty-eight-year-old Christoff Maylor of Cane River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Possession of Identity information.
7. Thirty-year-old Vance Brown, a farmer of Fort George, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Possession of Offensive Weapon.
8. Thenty-three-year-old Donte Samuels of Crab Hall, Annotto Bay, St. Mary who is charged with Possession of Identity information.
This operation forms part of a parish-wide initiative that is aimed at disrupting criminal networks, recovering illegal firearms, and restoring public confidence.
