Man Charged with Teen Murder

Twenty-year-old Emanuel Smith otherwise called ‘Kaydoo’ of Bryden Street, Kingston 16 has been charged with Murder, Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition following a shooting incident at the intersection of Upper Elletson Road and Norman Crescent, Kingston 16 on Thursday, March 28.

The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Jahkeem Deer of McIntyre Villa, Kingston 16.

Reports from the Elletson Road Police are that about 4:00 p.m., Deer and a relative were walking along the roadway when they were pounced upon by armed men, who opened gunfire at them. Deer was shot in the head and upper body; his relative managed to escape.

On October 04, 2024, based on an eyewitness statement Smith was arrested and subsequently charged after a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney. His court date is being finalized.
