MECHANIC CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT

Forty-seven-year-old Carey Joseph a mechanic of Cool shade Drive, Kingston 8 was charged with three counts of shooting in relation to an incident that occurred in Burnt Shop district, Lawrence Tavern, St. Andrew on Monday, April 22.

Joseph was charged as follows:  Wounding with intent with the use of a firearm possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition on Thursday, August 8.

Reports from the Lawrence Tavern Police are that about 8:00 a.m., three men were standing along the roadway when they were pounced upon by Joseph and another man who were driving a motor car. Both gunmen opened fire hitting all three men multiple times. Joseph and his accomplice then escaped in the motor car. A report was made to the police and all three men were taken to the hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

Following an investigation into the matter, Joseph was arrested and subsequently charged after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

His accomplice is currently being sought by the police.
