March 24, 2021Detectives assigned to the St. Catherine South Division have arrested and charged three men following separate incidents in St. Catherine between November 2020 and March 2021. Two firearms and nine 9mm cartridges were seized.

They are:

·         21-year-old Jauhene Simmonds, otherwise called Punkie of Hunts Pen, Clarendon;

·   36-year-old Dubson Fearon, an electrician of Braeton Phase 3, Portmore, St. Catherine; and

·    30-year-old Dwayne Officer, a plumber of Washington Drive, Windsor Heights in Central Village, St. Catherine.

Simmonds has been charged with two counts of House Breaking and Larceny following separate incidents in the parish.

Reports from the Portmore Police are that about 8:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 a group of men, including Simmonds, visited New Harbour Village 3, Old Harbour in the parish and broke into two premises that were securely locked. Several items including a black Samsung S7 cellular phone were stolen. Simmonds was apprehended on Tuesday, March 9 and the cellular phone found in his possession. He was subsequently charged. 

Fearon is charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition following an incident on Barracuda Way, Braeton Phase 3, Portmore, in the parish on Saturday, March 20.

Reports from Central Village Police are that about 2:45 p.m., Fearon was driving a white 2006 Honda Stream motor car on Braeton Boulevard when a Police Officer signaled for him to stop. Fearon disobeyed and a pursuit ensued. He later collided into a wall and was apprehended. He was searched and one Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing three 9mm cartridges was removed from his waistband. Following investigations, his home was searched and a magazine found in his dresser drawer with one 9mm cartridge.

Dwayne Officer was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition following a joint Police-Military operation in Windsor Heights, Central Village in the parish on Sunday, March 21. 

Reports from the Central Village Police are that about 10:25 a.m., Officer was with two other men who ran leaving him, upon seeing the lawmen. He was searched and one Sig-Sauer pistol with a magazine containing four 9mm cartridges was found on him.

The court dates of Simmonds, Fearon and Officer are being finalised.
