‘PAPA’ FACES BURGLARY CHARGES

Forty-five-year-old Ian Vassel, otherwise called ‘Papa’, a farmer of Southfield, St Elizabeth, has been charged with Burglary and Robbery with Aggravation following an incident in his community on Sunday, April 20.

Reports from the Junction Police are that at about 10:00p.m., a woman was asleep when she was awoken by noises coming from the adjoining bedroom. She went to investigate but did not observe anything unusual. Upon her return to her bedroom, she saw Vassel entering the room with a knife in hand. He demanded cash from her, and when his demands were not met, he took up two handbags, one containing JMD 4500. He then made his escape on foot in the area.

A report was made to the police, and Vassel was arrested on Saturday, May 3. He was later charged on Monday, May 5.

A court date for him is being arranged.
