Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has hailed the mothers serving within the Jamaica Constabulary Force, describing them as pillars of strength whose contributions continue to shape families, communities and the wider society.
In the latest publication of the Force Orders, issued ahead of Mother’s Day, the Commissioner paid tribute to mothers across the Force, while also recognising the wider role of mothers and mother figures throughout Jamaica. “As we approach the celebration of Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to honour and appreciate the mothers among us; those within our ranks, within our families, and across our communities,” Dr Blake said.
The Commissioner noted that mothers play a central role in shaping values, building resilience and guiding the next generation. “Mothers carry a profound responsibility in shaping character, instilling values, and nurturing resilience in the next generation,” he said.
Dr Blake further reflected on the influence of mothers and mother figures in the lives of many members of the organisation and the country at large. “Many of us draw strength and inspiration from the sacrifices and selfless support of mothers and mother figures in our lives,” he added.
The Commissioner reserved special commendation for mothers serving within the JCF, highlighting the balance they maintain between professional duties, personal sacrifice and family responsibilities. “To the mothers who continue to balance the demands of family, service, and personal sacrifice with grace, we salute you,” he said.
The message forms part of the JCF’s broader emphasis on recognising the human dimension of policing and the role of strong families and communities in national development.
Dr Blake said Mother’s Day should also serve as a reminder for Jamaicans to show appreciation and kindness to the women who continue to make significant contributions to national life.
“May this occasion remind us all to express gratitude, extend kindness, and cherish the invaluable role that mothers play in building stronger families, stronger communities, and ultimately, a stronger Jamaica,” the Commissioner said.
He ended the message by extending Mother’s Day greetings to mothers across the Force and the wider Jamaican society.
