‘POLO’ CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT

Detectives have charged 31-year-old Mark Thompson, otherwise called ‘Polo’, a labourer of Cornwall Street, Falmouth, Trelawny, with Possession of Firearm with intent to commit a first Scheduled Offence and Assault at Common Law following an incident in the parish on Wednesday, April 9.

Reports from the Falmouth Police are that at about 10:30 a.m., a man was at home digging a foundation when he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw Thompson pulling a firearm from his waistband and then pointed at him. The complainant, who was in close proximity to Thompson, reportedly used a machete to inflict a wound on the accused before making his escape in the area.

A report was made to the police, and Thompson was subsequently arrested and charged for the offences.

His court date is being finalised.
