‘PORTAL’ FACING MURDER AND GUN RELATED CHARGES

Detectives attached to the St. Andrew South Policing Division have laid several charges against 31-year-old Camar Frater, otherwise called ‘Portal’, a construction worker of Denver Crescent, Kingston 20, following an incident on Fenbooke Avenue, Marverly in the parish on Sunday, February 23.

He was charged with; Murder, Wounding with Intent (5 counts), Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, and Malicious Injury to Property.

The charges stem from the shooting death of 40-year-old Orlando David, otherwise called ‘Stucky’, a landscaper of Fenbooke Avenue, Kingston 20, and Tryall Heights, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, and the shooting injury of five others.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 1:05 a.m., David and the complainants were among a group of persons gathered along the roadway when two men on foot armed with high-powered firearms came out from a yard and opened gunfire at the group, then fled the scene. The injured persons were rushed to the hospital, where David was pronounced dead. The remaining five men were all admitted for treatment.

The police were summoned, and upon arrival, the scene was processed.

On Friday, March 7, Frater was arrested and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged on Friday, March 28, following the deposition of statements and a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
