PORTLAND MAN CHARGED WITH BURGLARY AND ASSAULT

Forty-eight-year-old Barrington Brown otherwise called ‘Jackulan’ a mechanic of Black Hill district, Portland has been charged with Burglary and Assault at Common Law following an incident that occurred in Duncan’s Hill, Trelawny on Friday, July 26.

Reports from the Falmouth Police are that about 2:30 a.m., Brown pried open the door to a house and attempted to remove a standing fan. The occupants of the house were alerted by the noise and went to investigate. In a bid to escape; the fan got tangled in a grille and Brown escaped in the area leaving the item.

The police were summoned and on their arrival Brown was seen hiding on a nearby premises with a knife in his hand. He was instructed to drop the knife by the lawmen but disobeyed their commands and attempted to use the knife to strike them. The lawmen subdued Brown, arrested him and later charged him.

His court date is being arranged.
