Portland Man Charged with Fraudulent Conversion and Obtaining Money by False Pretence

PORTLAND MAN CHARGED WITH FRAUDULENT CONVERSION AND OBTAIN MONEY BY FALSE PRETENCE

The Portland Police have charged 24-year-old Tarique Thompson otherwise called ‘Shadows’ of Sherwood Forrest, Portland with fraudulent conversion obtaining money by false pretence in relation an incident at financial institution in Port Antonio in the parish on Friday, November 1.

Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that at about 1:00 p.m., a man met Thompson through a friend, who told him that Thompson imports motor vehicles from the makers in Japan. Thompson the man went to the business establishment where the man transferred a sum of cash to Thompson’s Account for motor the vehicle. However, a few months later no vehicle was delivered, the man then asked Thompson for a refund, but he refused to return the money.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched. During the investigation was launched. During the investigation, Thompson was arrested; he was charged.

His court date has not been finalised.
