
PORTLAND MEN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES
Portland detectives have charged two men with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Robbery with Aggravation, Being Part of a Criminal Organization and Benefiting from Criminal Activity following an incident in St Margaret’s Bay in the parish on Saturday, March 28.
Charged are 31-year-old electrician, Jerome McLean and 24-year-old labourer Kagan Gibson. Both men are from Snow Hill, Portland.
Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that at about 12:30 a.m., a woman boarded a Toyota Probox motor car that was being operated as a taxi. It is reported that during the journey, the driver turned off the main road and three men emerged. It is further reported that the driver pulled a firearm and robbed the woman of JM $40,000 and US $5. The woman was later released along the Snow Hill main road in the parish.
The woman reported the robbery, and the police launched an investigation. McLean and Gibson were implicated during the probe, and they were later apprehended during a targeted operation.
On Sunday, April 5, both men were charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys. A court date is being finalised for them.
