PORTLAND WOMAN CHARGED WITH LARCENY AS A SERVANT AND FRAUDULENT CONVERSION
Detectives assigned to the Portland Policing Division have charged a woman with Larceny as a Servant and Fraudulent Conversion following a series of incidents at a business establishment on West Street, Port Antonio, in the parish between December 2024 and January 2025.
Charged is 23-year-old Jada Lindsay, a cashier of Mount Pleasant, Hope Bay, Portland.
Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that Lindsay, who was an employee at the business establishment, collected several months of rent money on behalf of the complainant from her tenants and took it for herself. Lindsay admitted to using the money for her own personal expenses when the complainant confronted her about it. An audit was conducted at the store, and it was borne out that January 2025 sales were short by $88,000 JMD. The accused was not given permission to use the funds, and as a result, a report was made to the police.
On Monday, March 10, Lindsay was arrested and later charged following a question-and-answer interview.
Her court date is being finalised.
